Overview

Objective

To design and prototype a computational tool that provides support for creativity and creative decision-making processes.

Deliverable

Designed a comprehensive program designed to provide a pleasant and enriching experience for both beginners and experienced cross-stitchers. The program will incorporate a range of basic and original features specifically tailored for cross-stitch enthusiasts.

Research

Conducted a comprehensive research of the current embroidery programs, with a specific focus on examining existing cross-stitch programs. This research allowed us to gain insights into the essential functions and features that embroiders typically require. By understanding the potential challenges and issues faced by users during their work, we were able to ideate and develop our own unique set of functions to address these needs effectively.

To communicate our design concepts and user-centric solutions, I created storyboards that illustrates how users can overcome specific challenges using our program. Despite the time constraints leading up to the presentation, I prioritized efficiency and managed to complete a storyboard that conveys our intended message. The storyboard visually communicates the user journey and showcases the key benefits and problem-solving capabilities of our program.

Evaluate

Upon completing the initial prototype, we conducted a heuristic evaluation to identify areas that required improvement. This evaluation allowed us to assess the program's usability and identify any potential usability issues or design flaws. Based on the feedback received from the evaluation, we made necessary refinements to enhance the overall user experience.

Additionally, we utilized the Creative Support Tool Index to further evaluate and explain the program's functions to real users. This evaluation process involved engaging with users and gathering their feedback and insights on the program's features and functionality. Their valuable feedback helped us validate our design choices and make further improvements based on their needs and suggestions.

By incorporating both heuristic evaluation and user feedback, we ensured that the program met high standards of usability and effectively supported the creative decision-making process.

Prototype

Designed a dedicated slide where users can explore and interact with each feature of our program through either videos or interactive prototypes. Through interactive prototypes allow users to directly engage with the program's interface, enabling them to experience the user flow and interact with different elements.

Result

The provided video offers a comprehensive overview of the program's functions and features. The voiceover in the video was skillfully performed by a team member, while my responsibility was to compiled and edited.

Takeaway:

The project required a significant amount of work to be accomplished within a tight timeframe, as two team members collaborated closely. Given the scope of the project, research, diagramming, prototyping, evaluating and other tasks were necessary. Our team prioritized supporting and assisting one another, which enabled us to fully invest our passion and dedication until the project's completion. Despite the demanding workload, I managed to handle it well by devoting substantial time and effort into making necessary modifications. As a result, we received a favorable score of 98 out of 100, validating the quality and success of our work.
